by Janus Boye
I worked in marketing today with Christian Köhler and the German speaking Umbraco community at their annual festival organised by byte5.
Impressed to see how far Umbraco-founder Niels Hartvig has taken his open source software project since the initial appearance at the Boye conference in 2005.
I shared my take on the direction of the marketplace and learned quite a bit at the intersection of content, commerce and community.
The Future of CMS - presentation abstract
Something big happened in 2016. Cloud. Agile. Marketing Automation. Experience Journeys. European Song Contest. And my perspective on CMS changed in 2 notable ways:
It is no longer digital versus rest of the organisation or digital vs. business or even us vs. them. The door is now open. The target audience is the entire organisation and everyone is trying to speak digital.
CMS used to be the central piece of the digital platform, you could have called it the web operating system. Now customers have a stack, where CMS is just one out of several pieces.
Both changes will radically change Umbraco and the rest of what remains in the CMS marketplace. In this talk, Janus will attempt to untangle what really happens when you truly put the customer first and factor these 2 changes in.
Predicting the future is hard, but Janus will draw on experiences from smart customers and partners to offer suggestions for what lies ahead and how we might offer the best technical solutions to cater to the requirements of today and tomorrow.
