WordPress is a free and open-source content management system and the most widely used CMS in the world
Launched in 2003 as a blogging tool, WordPress is now also commonly used in the enterprise
Compare to: Drupal, Joomla, TYPO3, Umbraco and other open source content management systems, but due to the wide adoption WordPress is also frequently compared with enterprise solutions like Adobe, Optimizely and Sitecore.
About WordPress
In the beginning, WordPress was mainly used to create blogs. Fast-forward to today, the software has improved, and you can create any type of website you want.
As of May 2021, WordPress is used by 64.8% of all the websites whose content management system is known, and 41.4% of the top 10 million websites according to a W3Techs Survey.
