About Mike Gifford
Mike Gifford is a Senior Strategist at CivicActions, serving as a thought leader in the realm of digital accessibility within the public sector. Additionally, he holds the distinction of being a W3C Invited Expert and a recognized expert in authoring tool accessibility.
In his previous role, Mike was the Founder and President of OpenConcept Consulting Inc., a web development agency specializing in constructing open source solutions for the open web. OpenConcept, a Certified B Corporation, was an impact-driven company that extensively collaborated with the Drupal CMS, much like CivicActions. Mike also played a role in the Government of Canada's Open Source Advisory Board.
Since 2008, Mike has been at the forefront of spearheading accessibility improvements in Drupal, serving as a Drupal Core Accessibility Maintainer in 2012.
A committed environmentalist, Mike has successfully integrated his passions for the web and the planet. Among his significant contributions are the development of the Sustainable Web Manifesto and adding an open-source perspective to Tim Frick's book, "Designing for Sustainability."
