About Magnus Børnes Hellevik

Magnus is the product manager for Aksel in NAV, the Norwegian Labor and Welfare Administration.

He has worked in NAV since 1999 and has helped build up the design department in NAV to become the largest internal design environment in the public sector in Norway.

In 2021, he went from being a design manager to becoming the product manager for a team of 11 people who have developed the Aksel design system.

Aksel is today one of Norway's most recognized design systems and toolkits for digital product development.

The team consists of designers, developers, and experts in accessibility.

Aksel is the toolbox for product development in NAV. The content is practical and designed for interdisciplinary product teams.

NAV has over 80 interdisciplinary product teams that use Aksel in their daily work. Aksel consists of the design system, good practices for product development, NAV's principles for user experience, and the product blog.
